Migraine with aura

I have suffered my whole life from migraines, which have at times been debilitating. When I was younger, I believed that the colorful shapes and sparkles I saw were real, instead of the result of migraine aura. This piece was made during my most intractable migraine, which lasted for about 4 months. I combined the searing pain with the beauty and colorful confusion of the aura to create a portrait of my experience.
